Musopathy Courses

In addition to formal degrees in institutions such as IIT Mandi, India, several shorter Health or Academic Courses courses are available to enable patients  help themselves and to anyone who wishes to be full or part time practicing Musopathist including those who are already in allied fields like Music Therapy, Yoga, Naturopathy etc and aim for more diverse knowledge and qualifications. 

Highlights

  • These courses require NO knowledge of Music, Breathing Techniques, Meditation, Yoga, Music or other therapies.  However, for those who have Theoretical or practical knowledge of Music, course content will be modified based on their expertise in various aspects like Melody and Rhythm. 
  • They offer performance based internships and job opportunities (scores of 60% or higher in Course Exams).
  • Data from Clinical Studies: Documented 7+ point systolic BP reduction, 30–250% breath improvement, increased oxygen saturation (in COVID-19 patients), and reduction in HbA1c levels for prediabetes management, increased HRV, rapid mood enhancement (cheerfulness/focus), reduction in anxiety and restlessness, immediate analgesic effects for musculoskeletal pain, and promising results for tinnitus relief.

Note: Musopathy interventions like TBTs  are supplementary to  standard medical care and not substitutes for it.

  1. Those interested in getting into Masters/PhD Music & Musopathy programs in IIT Mandi 
  2. Those who do not have the time or cannot afford the cost to get into full fledged multi-year academic programs
  3. Those interested in becoming Musopathy practitioners or instructors 
  4. Music Therapists, Yoga practitioners etc who wish to widen their knowledge base and customer offerings
  5. Those interested in short term Research as part of other academic projects 
  6. Musicians with interest in and aptitude for scientific health research 
  7. General Public interested in immersive Health Benefits

Eligibility

Those having any one of the criteria listed below will be admitted

  1. Those with completed or in ongoing Bachelor’s Degree 
  2. Scores above 75% in High School Exams 
  3. Any certified practitioner of other therapies (Physiotherapy, Yoga, Music Therapy, Naturopathy, Homeopathy etc) 

Course Outcomes

These will vary based on the Course taken but will broadly include the following:

  1. Ability to describe Musopathy and contextualise its role in Sound and Music Therapy landscape.

  2. Understand Musopathy Laws and key elements like TBT, MANET or Receptive Musopathy.

  3. Demonstrate core practices related to each component.

  4. Relate each Musopathy intervention to physiological, psychological, neurological and cognitive benefits based on emerging evidence and observation.

  5. Safely guide patients through Musopathy practice sequences for wellness and selected health concerns (initially as interns, under expert supervision).

  6. Develop expertise in quantifying the benefits of TBTs in specific situations such as HRV, BP and High Sugar and also assessing its qualitative benefits through globally used questionnaires.

  7. Design personalised, home‑based practice plans for various interventions and conditions (duration, frequency, precautions).

  8. Research further into Musopathy.

  9. Increase earning potential as Musopathists.

Duration:  Anything from a One Introductory Session of 45-75 minutes to extensive ones lasting 15-20 sessions, with follow up sessions upon request.

MANET Courses 

  1. Introduction to Music, Music Therapy and Musopathy
  2. Elements of Musopathy with emphasis on MANET 
  3. Components of MANET such as Mathematics and Rhythms 
  4. Mechanics of MANET, memory and brain function 
  5. Intro to Tempo maintenance through Beats or Feet Tapping for Motor skills 
  6. Intro to 3 Cyclic Rhythmic Expression with specific hand gestures (Tala) of different units for Cognitive engagement 
  7. Concept of internal mathematical pulse within every unit (like 4, 3, 5 etc) and simple exercises to calculate total internal units of various Time Cycles 
  8. Simple pattern recognition and execution in even Tempo 
  9. Changing configurations internally while maintaining the same pulse rate (For instance saying 3, 3, 3, 7 while maintaining 4 over 4 beats 
  10. Repeating these and similar exercises in the Cyclic Rhythms covered earlier

Exams and Certification

  • This includes Written as well as a Practical Exams anytime after 2 weeks after the completion of the Courses. 
  • Certificates will be issued based on their grades, with Level 1 being the topmost (in both Basic and Advanced categories).
  • Those scoring 60% or higher will also get job opportunities as interns (1 Year/1000 hours) and then self-practice licences based on further certification. 
  • Every practicing or teaching Musopathy Certificate holder will be subject to Annual Renewal Exams to ensure up to date knowledge and quality and patients’ safety and wellbeing.

Musopathy MEM Courses for Individuals and Orgs

Musopathy Mind Engineering & Management Courses are specially designed TBT and MANET combination Courses, based on the needs of the individual, groups of people (with largely similar issues) or organisation.  They can range from 1-2 sessions (of 60 minutes each) to extensive ones lasting 10-15 sessions, with follow up sessions upon request. They are available for: 

  1. Corporate Organisations and Business Houses 
  2. Students with Attention and Cognitive impairment (due to device or other addictions) 
  3. Elderly Citizens facing Cognitive Issues, Anxiety or physiological issues 

Fees

Fees are dependent on the kind of course taken, course, duration, and the region of the participant. The course fee will include access to direct guidance, return material, examination and certification. Fees for exclusive sessions for individual students will be higher than group sessions. Financial concessions can be offered to economically challenged students upon request.
